◄ BackMugo Pine (Pinus mugo) #20About 40 cm high In spring of 2003 Peter Thali collected this mugo pine in the Swiss Alps. As one can see it grew right on a rock. this is the very best situation to find a tree in that you want to collect. In fall of 2006 this mugo found it's way into my garden. Together with Jim Doyle and David it was taken out of the plastic tub and placed into this rustic round pot by Derek Aspinall. This will not be the final pot though. We debated whether this should become a literati or a cascade. Well maybe an literati cascade eventually. After two vegetation periods the mugo pine has recovered very well and seems ready for serious styling. Needles were plucked and more than two thirds of the foliage was removed. What is left over is still a bit too much. But for health purposes this will be left and in about two years some more will be removed. In the end the snake wanted to become a cascade again. it will be potted into a crescent pot next spring and look quite dramatical. Or so I hope. |
