Austrian Black Pine (Pinus nigra Austriaca) #4
About 45 cm high
Around 100 years old
Pot by Derek Aspinall
From a tree which was collected in 2001 in Austria by Robert Barth
This tree I got in a trade from Robert Barth in 2003. It was clear to me immediately that this would become a very nice half-cascade. This form is very rare for a black pine. The elegance of this tree is quite unusual for a collected black pine.

Spring 2004; as I got the tree from Robert.
Spring 2004; pruned and potted in this nice container by Derek Aspinall.
Summer 2006; the first styling is done. This is not for show, this is for future development. I take into account that the tree looks silly for a few years. the only thing that counts is what it will look like five years later.
Fall 2007; by now it looks like it going into the right direction.
Fall 2007; this is even better.
